I don't know if I picked up a pencil or a pair of reins first. I know that both things happened before I was a year old. My life of art and horses has indeed been a long and winding trail.

The professional art trail started in Southern California with 12 years as an illustrator for newspapers and advertising agencies. The trail led to Northern Nevada with the horse connection taking the art into the wilderness with a pack outfit run by my husband Dennis and myself for 25 years.

The horse trail took a turn to Endurance riding with a career of over 10,000 miles and counting. The endurance riding includes 2 finishes of the Tevis Cup 100 Mile Ride, 13 finishes of the Virginia City 100 Mile Ride, Reserve National Champion Lightweight 100 mile rider and over 6,000 miles accomplished on the same horse.

The horse in the picture is Fire Away Bay, 6,030 career miles. The art followed the same trail. I always ride with my camera. The photos taken on endurance rides, pack trips and pleasure rides become the reference material for my drawings.

The photographs serve as the inspiration for the art, the moments of life on the trail, the horses, the landscape, the cows, cowboys, working and playing in the real West. The pencils and brushes travel the trail well, ready to go to work around the campfire, sitting on a warm rock, or watching mare foal. All of my images are from my own experience, truly original in every respect. They are presented here for your enjoyment, the real West...as I've drawn it.
